Gnarly just came across a trailer for the new mountain epic from Alastair Lee, The Last Great Climb. The film documents Leo Houlding, Jason Pickles, and Sean Leary as they travel to Antarctica to climb Ulvetanna Peak, “a strange slab of rock that juts out of the Earth in one of the most inhospitable places imaginable.” It looks absolutely epic.
What makes this film unique is it’s setting in Antarctica –it looks like these climbers were dropped off on a different planet without all the overdone special effects. Beautifully shot, it captures the desolation and raw majesty of Ulvetanna -and what it actually takes to try and climb it– perfectly.
And If the trailer does the film any type of justice, the three adventurers look like they are pushed to their limits mentally and physically during the whole trip. Exactly how Gnarly likes to do things. According to the film’s site, it looks like you’ll have to wait until December 1st to see the whole film. But do yourself a favor, watch the trailer, be mesmerized and then maybe plan an adventure of your own.
