Q&A

Do you collect anything? Books. What is your most unusual talent? That's probably a matter of perspective. I do some things that make some people more curious than others, but I don't think it's anything that hasn't already been done and usually better. I like to try a lot of new things and learn from other talented people. What is the scariest thing you have ever done? Starting a nonprofit. Also the most exciting. Why do you like working with Gnarly? My interactions with the company have been supportive and genuine. I appreciate the clean ingredients and love the flavor of the products. Gnarly seems to be a very conscious compnay about the decisions they make and the quality they offer. Outside of your respective sport, what are you most proud of? I'm a primary caregiver for my grandparents and it's probably one of the hardest things I've done. I'm proud that I've changed in the grace and patience I've learned with them and seeing them accomplish the goals we set together. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? It's called temaki sushi and it was my favorite meal growing up. It's like "Japanese tacos" with sushi hand rolls (but don't tell my mom I called it that). Who is your hero? Why? Jesus. He loved humanity with more humility than anyone before or after him. If I can emulate even an ounce of that to make his person better understood, that beats a superhero any day. Any advice for aspiring athletes? Be yourself. It sounds so cliche, but it's true and it's actually quite difficult to fully grasp. Even as athletes, I don't believe our identity should come from this fact. When circumstances change and perspectives shift, the foundation of being an athlete can be a shaky one and its ground that most of us have stood on for our whole lives. I recommend... I believe electrolytes are one of the most fundamental supplements active people overlook. The Gnarly Hydrate Ruby Red Grapefruit is absolutely my favorite electrolyte drink I've ever had. I drink it daily during and immediately following my workout, usually mixed with the Vanilla protein and orange Pump. It's like a fruity sherbert.
